George Takei Says He's Gay
Actor Is Best Known for Role of Mr. Sulu on Star Trek

LOS ANGELES (Oct. 27) - George Takei, best known for his role as Mr. Sulu in "Star Trek," came out as homosexual in the current issue of a magazine covering the Los Angeles gay and lesbian community.

Takei told The Associated Press on Thursday that his new onstage role as psychologist Martin Dysart in "Equus," helped inspire him to publicly discuss his sexuality.

Takei described the character as a "very contained but turbulently frustrated man." The play opened Wednesday at the David Henry Hwang Theater in Los Angeles, the same day that Frontiers magazine featured a story on Takei's coming out.

The current social and political climate also motivated Takei's disclosure, he said.

"The world has changed from when I was a young teen feeling ashamed for being gay," he said. "The issue of gay marriage is now a political issue. That would have been unthinkable when I was young."

The 68-year-old actor said he and his partner, Brad Altman, have been together for 18 years.

Takei, a Japanese-American who lived in a U.S. internment camp from age 4 to 8, said he grew up feeling ashamed of his ethnicity and sexuality. He likened prejudice against gays to racial segregation.

"It's against basic decency and what American values stand for," he said.

Takei joined the "Star Trek" cast in 1973 as Hikaru Sulu, a character he played for three seasons on television and in six subsequent films. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1986.

A community activist, Takei ran for the Los Angeles City Council in 1973. He serves on the advisory committee of the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program and is chairman of East West Players, the theater company producing "Equus."

Oh wll I got an explination as to why the woman of my dreams isn't "ready for anything"...
she apparently doesn't want to lose what she has with her current man..
her current man being a guy who she said "I love you" and he said "I'm not ready to date just yet"..
they aren't even dating, she's just so infauated with a guy who doesn't give a shit about her that she is all over him..

lmao..
it's like an episode of fucking 90210...

I give up, I hope she's happy with that dick...

5:54 pm - yep I'm convinced
Let me be the first to say, Lousiana is the first of bad things to come.
And look how responsive the government is, people are dying of starvation!
we knew a hurricane was going to hit... days in advance..
kinda like 9/11 we knew days in advance too...
strange how that works..
and don't get me started on gas...
I just paid 3.39 for gas...
3.39!!!!
I'm not joking, this better be the end of the world cause I'm pissed off.
I won't except anything but, at this point.

this is rediculous..
something is wrong with this planet.

ugh..

2:40 pm - hmmmm
well it's clear to me now that life is a total slap in the face..
I don't even know if I should talk about it, it's almost too ironic and sad.
I find a girl who I think is like perfect..
and she turns out to be totally interested in my best friend..
yet he honestly could care less...
and still I'm sure he'll get some or whatever...
ugh..
and then it's gonna break her heart cause I think she doesn't understand he just doesn't feel anything..
but would gladly bang her.
but this is another wonderful story in my life..
*sigh*

I think this sums it all up perfectly:

The old days were no fun
I'm not sorry that they're gone
I don't miss them, and I won't miss them
It was always wrong, everything I've ever done from the beginning to the ending
And things never got better, it seems like forever since we had fun
or maybe I never had fun
And this whole time
I've been around
1 minute up, and a hundred down
oooh ooooh
keep on laughin'
keep attackin'
I'll show you what it means
to keep on lyin'
keep denyin'
that there's nothing good in me
I know I'm worthless
I know you heard this
oooooooooooooh
my lifes a joke and the jokes on me
the jokes on me

And you were always lame
a headache and pain
I don't miss you, and I won't miss you
I tried not to get bitter
but I was such a quitter
oh ya I had dreams, but they were only ever bad dreams
And this whole time
I've been around
1 minute up, and a hundred down
oooh ooooh
keep on laughin'
keep attackin'
I'll show you what it means
to keep on lyin'
keep denyin'
that there's nothing good in me
I know I'm worthless
I know you heard this
oooooooooooooh
my lifes a joke and the jokes on me
the jokes on me

the jokes on me

well there never were any good ol days
lookin' back I'm still amazed
how everything went wrong in everyway
there were no good ol days

well there never were any good ol days
lookin' back I'm still amazed
how everything went wrong in everyway
there were no good ol days

well there never were any good ol days
lookin' back I'm still amazed
how everything went wrong in everyway
there were no good ol days

And this whole time

3:30 am - A boring life in a boring town
So I am visitng from old town and seeing old friends..
and besides being drunk and having a massive crush on my friend mikes younger sisters friend..
I think this song totally sums up how I feel at the moment.

Just talked to this girl,
used to live, yea, on my street.
After all these years you're here,
and you remember me.
She said her old boyfriend
packed up and headed back east.
But she always knew some day...
he would go.

She just got a new job
and she's down to her last.
So let's take a drink and never think, yea
here's to the past.
She said its so funny,
how life runs out so fast.
It's just another wasted day.

A boring life in a boring town
with the same old crowd.
When I used to say, that I'd never stay
but I'm rotting here today.
With that same old crowd
thats always been around.
And I always thought I'd be
the first to go.

That same old crowd,
that drags me down.
Another day in a boring town.
That same old crowd,
that brings me down.
A boring life in a boring town.

Just talked to this girl,
used to live, yea, on my street.
After all these years you're here,
and its still just you and me.
Sometimes I can't believe after all these years
I just think I'll never leave here.
She said it's so funny,
how life runs out so fast.
Let's take another drink,
and here's to the past.

That same old crowd,
that drags me down.
Another day in a boring town.
That same old crowd,
that brings me down.
A boring life in a boring town.

And remember when they looked through you,
and then looked past me.
We were the ones they said would always leave.
So when you go, just think of me,
think of me.

A boring life in a boring town
with the same old crowd.
When I used to say, i'd never stay
but I'm rotting here today.
With that same old crowd,
thats always been around.
And I always thought that...
yea how we always thought that..
and I always thought I'd be,
the first to go!

A boring life,
A boring town.
A boring life,
A boring town.
A boring life,
A boring town!

1:11 am - something I think you all need to hear
I know I'm probably preeching to the choir here..
today was the election in ohio of the congress seat where a former iraq war vet was running, who was critical of the war and bush.
anyway, when I was there last week and in kentucky I saw something that shocked me, but I hoped this guy would win anyway..
but apparently tonight he lost by 3,500 votes, but I guess he did ok considering it was a majorly republican area...
BUT..
the thing I saw was this...
a commercial where they called this iraqi vet (from this war) a..and I quote "communist with anti-american values"...
in a commercial...
on the radio.

I couldn't believe it..
this man fought for us and now he's not good enough...

man sometimes I wonder about this country..

3:05 am - hmmmm
Do you ever feel totally empty sometimes..
I'm not talking about like "I need to cut myself to feel something" empty..
I'm talking about something different..
I can't explain it..
I sit here at my desk on my computer...
and I just feel bored and tired and annoyed and all sorts of things..
like a feeling I should be doing something, but don't have a clue what that could be...
I seriously was like "maybe I'll go beat off and go to bed"....that was 20 minutes ago..
and I'm still sitting here dumbfounded.
like I don't even have the motivation for self gratification...
I just don't know what to do..
I figure I should just go sleep and start new tomorrow.
But I seldom feel this way and when I do it shocks me..
and I felt it more since I've been here in the city.
like I feel lost on the inside.
look at me I''m rambling to just find something to write about..
lol
how sad.

This week my parents asked me to come visit their new house (down in kentucky - cause my dad got a really good job there.. not cause they like it :P).
Anyway, having been here 2 days now it is clear there are some "buffalo v louville" comparrisons..
I figured you'd enjoy things I've noticed.

Public Smoking
Buffalo: people made a fuss about making it illegal to smokin in bars.
Louville: people making a fuss about proposal to ban smoking from day care centers.
- I swear I heard someone say this "it's our own private property!!!" ...those poor poor kids

In the News
Buffalo: It was 94 this week!
Louville: (this is not a joke) in the 2 days I was here: 2 men walked out of a prison, 2 others escaped.. all 4 found dead. Also a 7 year old killed a 62 year old man.
oh...and "can you believe it was only 72 today! in buffalo it was 94!"

Weather:
Buffalo: known for snow
Louville: apparently known for rain..
it has rained everyday this last week ( I assume due to hurricanes?) my parents told me.. and the last 2 days it's been hot as hell and still raining.

License Plates (yes I know what you're thinking... license plates?)
Buffalo: the standard NY statue of liberty one..
Louville: in the 2 days I've been here I've seen: smiley face on a sun plate, cardinal logo plate, cardinal mascot plate, UK plate, save the cardinals plate,
wildlife fund plate, 4 different veterans plates, and a slew of others I forget now..
apparently there are like 14 different ones to choose from....
WTF?!?

Radio:
Buffalo: nearly every channel is either conservative talk or "office music".
Kentucky: nearly every channel is either pissed off liberals or kick ass rock...
ya I know..how'd that happen??

and I'll leave you with this..
before I left...
they changed 92.9 to "jack fm"...wtf was that about?
does anyone know.. i liked that station..even when it went all chat..
but then it went way soft...
what happened?

1:47 am - why do I bother..
I know I don't get angered very easily..
but this is just rediculous..
I found myself pinned in a corner with a demo tape I wanted to send to a company..
they wanted scene done a certain way, and of course the only person I could think of to do the voice..
was an ex-girlfriend..
I trusted her to help me..
I emailed many times and she said she'd do them..
and nothing..
now I need to find another VA in the next 48 hours to help me out..

just another reason why I'm glad I moved and get to start life over again..
buffalo holds some very angering memories at the moment..

and since when did laura stop talking/calling?
I feel like when nothing is wrong with her love life there is no need to talk to me...

bah.. anyway, how is everyone doing with my furniture :P

as for the radio/tv gigs, I hope everyone is watching cartoon network around oooh September wink wink :P
